Whether you are taking the kids out for a few hours to re-live your own childhood of exciting afternoons down by the river, or you are after the thrill of the catch, there are some amazing fishing opportunities to be had in Wangaratta and surrounds. 

The kids will enjoy becoming pro's during the 2nd and 3rd term holidays, as Rainbow Trout are stocked in the pond at Merriwa Park, and the avid anglers will be in heaven as they fish one of the regions lakes and rivers for brown trout, rainbow trout, blackfish, redfin, mountain galaxias, Murray Cod and Golden Perch.

As well as fantastic fishing, great kayaking and canoeing adventures can be had at the Ovens and King Rivers, Lake William Hovell and Lake Cobbler. 

Lake William Hovell Recreation Area
